The Importance of Getting a Flu Shot
It’s that time of the year again, flu season is upon us. The flu vaccination is the first and most important step to fighting the flu. By getting it, you can protect yourself and your family from flu-related illnesses. Vaccination has been shown to have many benefits including reducing the risk of hospitalization and flu-related death. It takes about two weeks after the vaccination for antibodies that protect against flu to develop in the body. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone 6 months of age and older should get the flu vaccine by the end of October every season.
